In this project, new power integrity approaches are proposed to obtain wide stopband performance on the power planes. The proposed schemes include a spiral-shaped power island, spiral-shaped EBG power plane, and introduction of quarter-wavelength open stubs into conventional EBG power planes. The spiral-shaped power planes show very wideband performance up to 20 GHz and above and the open stub approach effectively suppresses in-band resonances within the stopband of the EBG power planes.
